Anand Patel is an expert in the treatment of myeloproliferative diseases, myelodysplastic syndromes, and leukemias. In addition to providing expert care for patients using standard treatment approaches, novel therapies as part of clinical trials, and collaboration with the University of Chicago cellular therapy program, he also serves as the director of the inpatient leukemia service at the University of Chicago Medicine.
Patel’s research interests are geared toward the development of clinical trials to help improve the standard of care for patients with high-risk leukemias and myeloid malignancies, by studying novel drugs. His research has been published in Blood Advances, British Journal of Haematology, Cancer, JCI Insight, and Bone Marrow Transplantation. He is a member of the American Society of Hematology.
He received his MD from the University of Missouri School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at the McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University, where he also served as a chief medical resident. Patel completed his adult hematology-oncology fellowship training at the University of Chicago, where he served as chief fellow.
