Shaoda Wang

Shaoda Wang is an applied economist with research interests in development economics, environmental economics, and political economy. His main research agenda aims at understanding the political economy of public policy (design, implementation, and effectiveness), with a regional focus on China.

His work has been published in the Quarterly Journal of Economics and the American Economic Journal: Applied Economics. He has received numerous grants and awards, from the Tsinghua University–University of Chicago Joint Research Center for Economics and Finance, Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab, Becker Friedman Institute for Economics, and Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago–University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (EPIC–UCAS) Joint Center for Energy Policy Research in China.

Wang received a BA in economics from Peking University and a PhD in agricultural and resource economics from the University of California, Berkeley. He was a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Economics and the Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago.
