Tomas Muñoz

Tomas Muñoz’s areas of interest are brain sleep mechanisms and respiratory control, especially in the developing infant; long-term follow-up in technology-dependent children; and involuntary control during sleep.

He contributed a chapter to the Encyclopedia of Sleep, 2nd ed. (Academic Press, 2021), and his research has been published in Neoreviews and Current Sleep Medicine Reports. He has also presented his work at the Pediatric Academic Societies and Sleep 2021 conferences.

Muñoz received his MD from the Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He completed his pediatrics residency at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in New York City, his neonatal-perinatal medicine fellowship at Loyola University Medical Center, and his adult and pediatric sleep medicine fellowship at the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System. He was most recently assistant professor of pediatrics at Rush University Medical Center.
